360° Virtual Tour
(Our Yard & Show Home)

Our buildings vary in size from a small hunting cabin to a large rambling house of over 9000 sq ft.(see homes under construction)

All of our buildings include a Timber Product Inspection (T.P.I.) grade stamping on the logs. This enables our customers to provide a certificate to their building inspector if need be.

The majority of the buildings we construct are custom-built log homes to reflect the individual needs of each client. We offer the option of natural sheep's wool insulation as an alternative to fiberglass insulation, for those who prefer it. When the logs are delivered to our construction yard, they are decked to air dry with the bark on. Moisture content of the logs is between 15-20%.

Prior to construction of your home, the bark and cambium layer is removed with a drawknife, which ensures you clean, bright logs.

Using full-length logs, skilled craftsmen, with chainsaws, axes and chisels, now begin to turn your home into a reality.

Log Sanding

Norwegian shrink fit saddle notches at the corners and lateral scribe or Swedish cope fits between the logs assure a warm, airtight home. Throughbolts are used at corners, large openings and at doorways to guarantee superior structural integrity. Drift pins are placed between window openings.

As the log shell is built in our construction yard, all window and door openings are cut out, keywayed and flared back. These openings are made to accept your windows and doors, with an allowance made for the settling.

All log floor joists are pre-flattened on top, ready for the flooring material. The ridge and purlins are pre-flattened at the correct roof pitch and are made ready for the roofing. The ends of the logs are sanded, chamfered and curled on top.

House

Prior to shipping, all logs are tagged and numbered for easy re-erection at your building site. Your local dealer or an Original Log Homes representative will assist with re-erection (a 1-2 day process depending on your home's site and size).

Due to the many varied locations chosen for these quality homes,
freight and crane costs are not included in log package prices
unless otherwise specified. Delivery time for the complete log packages depends
on the time of year the order is placed. Contact us for more information on British Columbia custom built log homes.
